Dr. Laura Fisher (English) holds a BA (Hons) from McGill University and a 2012 PhD from New York University. As a literary and cultural historian she brings to the MLC Research Centre a research interest in urban literature and culture with a focus on issues of gender, race, class, and social mobility. Dr. Fisher is particularly interested in the mutual relationship between urban social and cultural institutions and modern American literatures around the turn of the twentieth century. Dr. Fisher's digital culture project "City of Words" is a website and Smartphone application that connects literary and physical landscapes on a map of New York City.
