Shany Raitsin is a BA student (2017-2021) at Ryerson University pursuing a major in English with a minor in Philosophy. Her research interests focus on poetry and other writings emerging from the modernist era and the Beat Generation. Shany has served in a number of roles including as the co-founder and president of the creative writing student group, the Ryerson Writers Collective, and president of the Ryerson English Course Union. As a work study student, she has been involved in supporting the Modernist Studies Association conference hosted by the MLC in 2019. Working with Irene Gammel and her team, she is thrilled to be given an opportunity to refine her research, writing, and event-planning skills, and to work closely with like-minded scholars.
