Joanna Dermenjian holds an MA in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University (2021) and a BA from Western (1988). As a Research Fellow at the Modern Literature and Culture Research Centre, Joanna is working with Irene Gammel on Canadian women’s cultural legacy focussing on the intersection of world wars and women’s volunteer labour. Joanna’s research focus is on the repatriation of war quilts from overseas, exploring Canadian women’s home front production of hundreds of thousands of quilts for British civilians and European refugees during the Second World War.
