Dr. Debra Moddelmog
Dr. Debra Moddelmog is an internationally recognized scholar of American modernism and a leading authority on Ernest Hemingway. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Modern Literature and Culture Research Centre (MLC), supporting its international research partnerships and strategic initiatives. A distinguished academic leader, she is former Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno, and previously held senior leadership roles at The Ohio State University. Her publications include Reading Desire: In Pursuit of Ernest Hemingway (Cornell University Press) and the co-edited volume Ernest Hemingway in Context (Cambridge University Press). She also serves on the editorial board of The Hemingway Review and the advisory board of the Hemingway Letters Project (Cambridge University Press).
Dr. Moddelmog is deeply committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion and is known for her practical, solution-focused leadership. Guided by her motto, “I like to solve problems,” she brings a hands-on, collaborative approach to advancing research, strengthening institutional partnerships, and supporting the work of the MLC.
